The first thing I like to decide on when picking an area rug is the size that I will need for the space that I have.  Many rugs come in all different sizes but some come in just certain sizes.  If a rug isn't available in a size that will work for your space there isn't any use in waisting our time looking at those options..

Once you know which size rugs will work in the space that you have then you are ready to determine what color and style you wish to have.  Are you looking for something neutral in color, or something bold and wild.  This will all depend on where your rug is going and the style of your existing decor.  You may wish for you rug to be the accent or focal point of your room.  If this is the case then a bold and wild color may be best for your needs.

The last decision to be made when deciding on a rug is the material in which it's made.  I like to stick with rugs made from natural materials, such as, bamboo, seagrass, or jute.  Many of these organic options come with natural anti-moisture and static properties.  Many are also hand woven which provides you with a great quality product.
